The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce launch its Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) CARES Act Grant Technical Assistance Program in response to COVID-19

Funding for this program was made possible through the CARES Act through a grant from the U. S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency.

Washington, D. C., December 8, 2020 –The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced the launch of its USHCC MBDA CARES Act Grant Technical Assistance Program to provide assistance to small, Hispanic and minority owned companies throughout the pandemic. Funding for CARES Act was through a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA).

The USHCC MBDA CARES Act Grant Technical Assistance Program is facilitated through eight COVID-19 Technical Assistance Centers (TACs) that provide ongoing readiness and support to help the minority business community to navigate COVID-19, and its economic fallout, by preparing them to have access to and fulfill new business and supply chain opportunities. The Program includes USHCC CARES, a bilingual communications and digital outreach campaign providing critical information and resources to small, Hispanic and minority owned companies to help them overcome the challenges resulting from the global pandemic.

The campaign and eponymous website feature a robust calendar of free industry-centric webinars led by thought leaders and facilitated by participating chamber partners; links to critical resources for public and private sector funding; help and guidance with access to capital, and information on health care, business productivity and tips to reopen safely.

Ramiro Cavazos, the President & CEO of the USHCC commented:

“The USHCC is leading the work to provide solutions for the most vulnerable small businesses that form part of our Hispanic and minority entrepreneurial community to create jobs, and provide solutions and information on resources and guidance in English and Spanish to enable them to adapt their business models and procurement processes. Whether in person, by phone, email, webinars with Subject Matter Experts or digital outreach, the COVID-19 Technical Assistance Centers are sharing tools and insights related to access to capital and alternative funding; health and safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and best practices around digital transformation; managing remote teams; mental health; productivity, and much more.”

To expand the breadth and impact of the USHCC MBDA CARES Act Grant Technical Assistance Program, the USHCC identified regional Hispanic chamber partners located in geographies with significant Hispanic and minority populations, and with no MBDA Business Center presence. Our participating partners are facilitating and hosting TACs in Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and our headquarters in Washington, D. C. including the following local chamber partners:
