Sought-after brands and new outlets enrich Christmas shopping at Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport’s roughly 300 shops, cafés and restaurants always make it a very special kind of shopping experience, and this is particularly true during the weeks before Christmas. That’s when the marketplaces are festively decked out and blazing with many thousands of lights, when traditional German Christmas dishes are served and when the sounds of singing angels accompany you as you make the rounds. In the pre-Christmas season, many of the shops and restaurants at the airport also beckon with special offers, and promoters hand out coupons for attractive discounts.

“Frankfurt Airport always offers guests an exceptional shopping experience,” explains Ute Pohl, who is responsible for Airport Retailing at Fraport AG’s
Retail&Real Estate Management unit. “Our passengers and visitors enjoy an exciting mix of top brands from around the world and remarkable German labels, topped off with regionally renowned, owner-led stores and outlets. And there is a constant progression of new things to discover, since we pay special attention to ensuring that our portfolio always stays a step ahead of current trends.”

New at the airport are the Birkenstock, Coccinelle, Moleskine, Pfüller Kidskonzept, and Kiko Milano brands, all of which are represented in the publicly accessible areas where visitors without a boarding card can take advantage of them. In addition, Thomas Sabo has opened a second store at Frankfurt Airport. Sandals and shoes of the German Birkenstock brand have acquired cult status worldwide. Coccinelle has been delighting women since 1978 with top-quality Italian bags, purses, and accessories. Moleskine’s legendary notebooks, calendars and sketchbooks have become essential companions for artists and other creative individuals. The popular charms and jewelry and timepiece collections of Thomas Sabo give expression to individual lifestyles.

And Kiko Milano stands for superb makeup and innovative bodycare products. Pfüller Kidskonzept has now finally also returned to the airport: this brand is well-known in the Frankfurt area for its unique selection of exquisite children’s clothing, baby articles, and toys&games. In the transit zone, the MCM marque enhances the shopping experience with exquisite leather articles sporting its traditional monogram.

In January 2017, the airport’s first Victoria’s Secret outlet will join the list of new shops, offering the brand’s popular accessories, fragrances, cosmetics and panties.

Last-Minute Holiday Shopping

The shops and restaurants at Frankfurt Airport will be open during their regular business hours on December 25 and 26 and New Year’s Day, and until 6 p.m on Christmas Eve and December 31. In the transit zones, travelers will of course be able to continue shopping and dining until considerably later than that.

Passengers and visitors can find more information on shopping at Frankfurt Airport on its website. Online shopping opportunities abound at www.frashopping.com. The popular Frankfurt Airport Rewards Program is also caught up in the Christmas spirit in December: when making purchases from Heinemann Duty Free and Caviar House&Prunier you even receive five times the usual points.
