The reception of packages through local “couriers” increased 15% last year, going from 6,783,901 in 2017 to 7,780,048 in 2018, according to statistics from the General Directorate of Customs.
This is a reflection of the boom that Internet purchases have had, which increasingly attracts more buyers, among other things, due to the accessibility, convenience and usefulness they have.
Social networks and the appearance of new applications have served to increase this type of acquisitions, in addition to serving users to know the opinions of other consumers about the items that want to acquire.
“I prefer to buy ‘online’, due to lower prices, compared to the same product in the local market, and new items appear, and I can do it from the comfort of my house at any time,” he told EL DÍA Daniel Castillo, 30 years, a habitual buyer online.
Although the young population is the one that opts more in this way, people between 40 and 70 years have joined in this virtual revolution. Such is the case of Ramona Billini, 65, who lives in the Gazcue sector, who chooses this option because of the low prices.
