The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEPFI) are organising an event entitled “Building a Global Energy Efficiency Financing Alliance” in Istanbul on 16-17 September.
The event will provide an opportunity for banks, leasing companies, insurance providers, DFIs and microfinance institutions to present and identify successful business strategies for integrating energy efficiency across their investments.
In the context of the upcoming COP21 International Climate Conference in Paris in 2015, this event will also be an opportunity to highlight the strong international focus on energy efficiency financing through initiatives by the G20 and other international partners.
Financing institutions committed to integrating energy efficiency finance into their business operations are invited to be part of a joint declaration on actions to enhance energy efficiency finance.
With 34 per cent of the Bank’s €8.9 billion investments in 2014 dedicated to climate finance, the EBRD is a market leader in engaging the private sector in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
The EBRD has a great role to play in helping achieve global climate goals and is gearing up for the COP21.
The Bank will remain committed to supporting the talk’s outcomes in the countries where it invests and beyond.
