Professional Golfers Bernhard Langer and Lexi Thompson Express Why “I Love The Palm Beaches” in New Testimonial Videos

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Two-time Masters Champion Bernhard Langer and LPGA golfer Lexi Thompson each share their personal sentiments about why they love living in The Palm Beaches as part of a brand ambassador program for Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB), the official tourism marketing corporation for Palm Beach County. Langer and Thompson join a series of testimonial videos that features several elite resident golfers, including Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, Ernie Els, Camilo Villegas and more. Each video is unscripted and unique to the individual; however, they all share “Why I Love The Palm Beaches” in their personal messages to highlight an array of attributes that make Florida’s Golf Capital® one of the most desirable destinations for visitors and locals alike.

A 30-year resident of Boca Raton, Langer explains “… it doesn’t get much better.” Aside from the ability of golfing almost every day, he shares that his favorite hidden gem of The Palm Beaches is the breathtaking beauty that abounds naturally, comparing it to a true paradise. He recommends taking an airboat tour to explore the Everglades and see the diversity of wildlife that also calls The Palm Beaches home. Thompson prefers to sample the local, homegrown flavors of the area amid the variety of restaurants available throughout The Palm Beaches – especially those located in Downtown Delray Beach on Atlantic Avenue, which she also considers her favorite hidden gem.

Additionally, the 21-year old native South Floridian touts the diversity of experiences that can be had, noting the casual atmosphere and easy ability to take a boat out fishing or to enjoy the sunshine via paddle board.

In the last count by The Palm Beach Post, more than 60 current or former professional golfers reside in The Palm Beaches, which encompasses 2,000-square-miles from Boca Raton to Jupiter. These pros – several of whom are currently recognized as some of the world’s best golfers as noted by the Official World Golf Ranking – have the option to live anywhere in the world, but have chosen to live in The Palm Beaches. This ambassador program highlights the personal connection as to why these individuals choose to call The Palm Beaches home, as they share their favorite hidden gems, must-see locations and leisure activities.

“I’ve been all over the world, and I haven’t found a place I’d rather be than in Palm Beach County,” says Jack Nicklaus, 50-plus-year resident and arguably the greatest golf champion. Fellow career “Grand Slam” winner Tiger Woods beams with genuine happiness when describing his ideal day in The Palm Beaches, where he references his new restaurant, The Woods Jupiter in Harbourside Place: “…surf a little bit, where you can go scuba diving, spear fishing and play golf, then go to the restaurant at the very end of it and watch sports – it’s a pretty cool place.” Four-time Major champion Rory McIlroy shares his excitement for wave-running on the water, up-close turtle encounters, and his assessment that some of the best seafood in the world is available in The Palm Beaches. Paddle boarding on the Loxahatchee River is a favorite pastime for 2010 Honda Classic Champion Camilo Villegas, while Olympian and 2017 Honda Classic Champion Rickie Fowler enjoys the beaches and satisfies his occasional sweet tooth at Palm Beach Ice Cream. Must-see sights for Ernie Els, philanthropist and owner of 70 career wins, includes the Mizner architecture along Worth Avenue, sampling delicious cuisine at Chef Clay Conley’s celebrated restaurant Buccan, and enjoying the island life at The Square Grouper, which is located along the Jupiter inlet with picturesque views of the historic Jupiter Lighthouse.

Discover The Palm Beaches worked in partnership with KO-MAR Productions and IMG / The Honda Classic to capture each golfer’s sentiments about the destination in which they choose to live.
