Dr. Hananel Holzer joins The Fertility Partners team as Medical Director, Third-Party Reproduction and Education

TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Fertility Partners (TFP), a network of leading fertility practices across North America, today announced the appointment of Dr. Hananel Holzer MD, in the newly created role as Medical Director of Third-Party Reproduction and Education. This new TFP leadership role was developed to meet the assisted reproduction needs of today’s patients, and ensure the network is consistently innovating as science and technologies continue to advance. Dr. Holzer is acknowledged globally as a leader in reproductive medicine and a pioneer in third-party reproduction protocols and psychosocial support of patients through their treatment journeys.

Dr. Holzer will lead the evolution of a range of programs delivered through TFP partner clinics to support all persons involved in third-party reproduction. Third-party reproduction refers to the involvement of a donor (of eggs, sperm and embryos) or a surrogate (also referred to as a gestational carrier) – someone other than the intended parent/s. Assisted reproduction is growing due to decreased fertility rates, increases in single people and members of the LGBTQ+ community wishing to build families, and mature families seeking fertility support.

“The assisted reproduction needs of patients are growing and the science improves year over year,” said Dr. Andrew Meikle, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Fertility Partners. “Dr. Holzer’s leadership in the development of third-party reproduction programs, and decades of mentorship to fertility specialists committed to meeting the needs of all families, make him a perfect fit as a leader in our network.”

According to Dr. Holzer, he was attracted to The Fertility Partners for its unmatched level of collaboration amongst practitioners, with insights and learnings shared across the network of partner clinics that continuously raise the potential for all people seeking assisted reproduction.

“My goal will be to enhance third-party reproduction programs by ensuring inclusive access to best-in-class care, in particular psychosocial supports that are a critical complement to fertility science. Fertility treatment, in consideration of patients involved in third-party reproduction, can be a challenging voyage and care must include exceptional support for the overall wellbeing of the whole patient,” said Dr. Holzer. “Ultimately, the success of our work will be seen in pregnancy outcomes that are physically and emotionally healthy for donors, surrogates, intended parent and babies.” In addition to his role at TFP, Dr. Holzer will be a member of the practice team at TFP partner clinic ReproMed Fertility.

Prior to joining TFP, Dr. Holzer most recently served as the Director of the R.E.I. (reproductive endocrinology and infertility) and I.V.F. Departments and as the Associate Director of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hadassah Medical Organization in Israel. He is the former Medical Director of the McGill University Health Centre Reproductive Centre and the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division of McGill University. At McGill University, Dr. Holzer led as the Director of the REI Fellowship Program, a program that has educated and trained dozens of specialists from Canada and worldwide, including many currently practicing in TFP partner clinics.

Dr. Holzer is involved in developing fertility related projects around the world, has served on Assisted Reproductive Therapy (ART) advisory committees in Quebec and Ontario, founded and directed a fertility clinic and Women’s Health Centre in Israel, is currently serving the Chair of the Steering Committee of the Israeli National ART Registry among other boards and holds an Adjunct Professor appointment in the McGill University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Montreal. He is the author of many publications in the field of infertility, a member of editorial boards of several journals and is a highly regarded invited speaker around the world. In addition to third party reproduction, Dr. Holzer’s main interests are fertility preservation and a comprehensive team approach to infertility related issues.
